エステルオカダアートギャラリーでは、2026年1月15日（木）から2月1日（日）まで、今泉奏による個展「地下室で蝶がみた夢」を開催いたします。当ギャラリーでは初個展となる本展では、ドローイングや版画の新作に加え、立体作品も発表いたします。

芋虫が蝶へと姿を変える過程は、象徴的なメタモルフォーゼとして語られてきました。しかし私たち自身の身体もまた、絶えず変容を続けています。

 

「日々の経験を頼りに、輪郭を少し広げ、現実を少しだけずらすように歪ませながら」日々少しずつ生み出された作品は、私たちが時間や経験を抱えつつ変化し続ける存在であることを示します。
 

作品はまた、素材の変容であると同時に、作品と向き合う鑑賞者の内側にも、静かな変化をもたらすものです。ひとつの作品は、素材のメタモルフォーゼであると同時に、見る者自身にもメタモルフォーゼをもたらします。

「己の姿を大きく変える芋虫の変態に憧れる。しかし芋虫は、幼虫のときの記憶を残している可能性があるという。変化とは、すべてがまったく別のものになることだけではなく、過去の痕跡を抱えたまま続いていく営みなのかもしれない。私の創作活動も、その延長線上にある。日々の経験を頼りに、輪郭を少し広げ、現実を少しだけずらすように歪ませながら。」（今泉奏）

Esther Okada Art Gallery is pleased to present Dreams Seen by a Butterfly in the Basement, a solo exhibition by So Imaizumi, on view from January 15 (Thu) to February 1 (Sun), 2026. This exhibition marks Imaizumi’s first solo presentation at the gallery and will feature new watercolor and print works, alongside sculptural pieces.

The transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly has often been described as a symbolic metamorphosis. Yet our own bodies are also in a continual state of change. A work of art is a transformation of materials, and at the same time, it brings about a quiet inner shift in those who encounter it. Each artwork thus represents not only the metamorphosis of matter, but also the metamorphosis of the viewer.
 
”I long for the metamorphosis of a caterpillar—a transformation so dramatic in form. Yet caterpillars may retain memories from their larval stage. Perhaps change isn't solely about becoming something entirely different, but rather a process that continues while carrying traces of the past. My creative work lies along that same continuum. Grounded in daily experience, I expand the contours, gently distorting reality to shift it out of place.”　－So Imaizumi
